Lubrication is a critical aspect of preventive maintenance, as it reduces friction and wear between moving parts, helps dissipate heat, and prevents corrosion. Proper lubrication can significantly increase the efficiency and reliability of equipment, leading to cost savings and improved safety.

Oil level check

The oil level checked when the engine is stopped is more accurate. When checking, make sure the engine is level.

Replace oil filter
Change the oil filter at every oil change, or when the oil filter differential pressure reaches 103 kPa. NOTE: Do not attempt to clean the oil filter and reuse it.

Drain the oil
The old oil needs to be drained before changing the oil. Be careful not to drain the oil when the engine is cold. Because waste particles settle at the bottom of the oil pan when the oil is cold, these waste particles may not be discharged with the cold oil. 

After the engine is running, when the oil is still warm, drain the oil in the oil pan, which is beneficial to drain the waste particles suspended in the oil.

Dismantling and checking the old filter element

Cut off the end caps on both sides of the oil filter element. Unfold the pleated paper and inspect the filter element for metal debris. Excessive metal debris in the filter element may indicate early wear or impending failure. Use a magnet to separate ferrous and non-ferrous metals found in oil filter elements.

Add oil
Remove the oil filler cap. Fill the crankcase with oil only through the oil filler line.

Crankcase breather
The crankcase breather is a simple ventilation device, which is installed above certain valve cover, and then connected to the outside of the generator room through a breathing tube, and communicated with the atmosphere. The crankcase breather and breathing tube should be kept free of blockage and oil accumulation.
